Dr. Joseph Cohen, a board certified forensic pathologist, is the founder and president of United Forensic Services, P.C. In 1996, Dr. Cohen achieved board certification from the American Board of Pathology in anatomic and clinical pathology, and forensic pathology.

Dr. Cohen has personally performed or supervised thousands of forensic autopsy examinations. He has provided deposition and courtroom testimony at several hundred criminal and civil proceedings, in both local and federal jurisdictions. Additionally, he has extended his professional services for hundreds of private forensic consultations and presentations to individuals and agencies.

Dr. Cohen was born in Los Angeles, California and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. He graduated from the University of Arizona in Tucson with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in biology. He earned his medical degree (M.D.) from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Following medical school, he returned to Phoenix for one year of general surgery internship training at Maricopa Medical Center. Following his surgical internship, he obtained four years of general pathology (anatomic and clinical pathology) residency training from the University of California Irvine Affiliated Pathology Residency Training Program based in Orange, California. In 1994, he relocated to New York for his one year subspecialty fellowship training program in forensic pathology at the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Manhattan, New York.

Following completion of his formal education and training, Dr. Cohen spent four additional years in New York City, employed as a full time medical examiner at the Office of Chief Medical Examiner performing autopsies in the Bronx and Manhattan. In July, 1999, he accepted and served as the chief forensic pathologist for the County of Riverside in southern California until he opted for early retirement, effective August 9, 2010.
